Highlands Ability Battery

The Highlands Ability Battery

Natural abilities are like the strings of a violin or keys of a piano. Untouched, they exist without any impact on our minds or senses. Harnessed and controlled, they offer limitless possibilities for growth and development. When you discover your greatest natural abilities and talents, you will discover your greatest opportunity for success.

Wouldn’t it be nice if you could identify your natural abilities and be able to leverage them as you develop your career?

Every individual is born with natural abilities which are combined to form a unique pattern in that individual. The trick is to recognize and understand the abilities which reside in you and the way in which those abilities relate to each other. Confronted by new sets of problems or changes in circumstance, how quickly do you generate new ideas for solving them? How easily and quickly do you discern relationships between seemingly unrelated objects? How easily can you rearrange data in logical order? These are some of the questions that will be answered when you understand and utilize your innate abilities.

The Highlands Ability Battery is the code that cracks open your awareness of your unique talents.

The report is a road map for personal development and success. After gaining an understanding and appreciation of your abilities, we will look for paths where we can leverage those talents. Your best bet for success comes from building on the talents that come most naturally to you, instead of trying to “fix” your lesser talents and become someone you’re not.

Emotional Intelligence – EQ-i

Emotional Intelligence (EQ) can be defined as “a set of emotional and social skills that influence the way we perceive and express ourselves, develop and maintain social relationships, cope with challenges, and use emotional information in an effective and meaningful way.” (Multi Health Systems MHS Manual).

Steven Stein and Howard Book in their seminal book, The EQ Edge, elaborate on this by further describing EQ as “our capacity to objectively assess our strengths, as well as be open to viewing and challenging our limitations, mistaken assumptions, unacknowledged biases, and shortsighted/self-limiting beliefs. An ability to tune into the world, to read situations, and connect with others while taking charge of our own life.”

EQ is not fixed, these skills and strengths can be developed and have a direct correlation on long term success in the workplace and navigating workplace land mines more intuitively and confidently.

Corestrengths

Core Strengths

The simple task of exchanging ideas, information, or experiences so that each person genuinely understands what the other really means is quite complex.  There are certain qualities in communication that most reasonable, interpersonally adept people want to experience when they interact with others.  Most importantly, we generally want people to be trustworthy and to perceive us as being trustworthy.  Additionally, we want to have our communication treated as it was intended.

The Core Strengths inventory is an effective method to improve communication and conflict resolution.  It’s an assessment based on Relationship Awareness — a learning model for effectively and accurately understanding the motive behind behavior. When people recognize the unique motivation of themselves and others, they greatly enhance their ability to communicate more effectively AND handle conflict more productively.

Corestrengths

Benefits of taking this assessment include:

  • Develop a non-threatening method for dealing with the interpersonal conflict that is too often avoided.
  • Understand the reasons for your actions by going beyond behavior to reveal your driving motivations.
  • Identify and understand your conflict triggers and develop methods to work through conflict more productively
  • Learn your core strengths and how to utilize them more productively in developing trusting relationships
  • Know when your strengths are overdone, what that looks like, and how to improve them.
Corestrengths

The assessment will be done online and upon completion, you will have instant access to the portal which includes reports on communicating when you’re at your best and when in conflict, core strengths, and overdone strengths.  We will conduct a 90 minute meeting to interpret the results.
